Hey Everyone…
What a couple of weeks in New Zealand. It was beautiful and the audiences were legendary. I had a lot to do while I was there and missed the forums and interacting with this community. I’m jumping back in starting today – look out!
I arrived back in the USA last night and flew to Vegas for a gig tonight. I spent the night near the airport – didn’t want to go home for a few hours and confuse my 7-year old son who would have hated to see me leave this morning.
I just did my sound check and tonight will be a blast – 500 people from around the country that sell grocery supplies to markets – we’ll make that funny, somehow!
This show is for a producer we have worked for many times and I overheard something while I was on stage flipping my garden weasels around. She was telling her client,
“Last time I worked with Barry and Dan it was in Chicago for a huge audience of bankers – the most boring people in the world. They had the people on their feet – I couldn’t believe it! They are so easy to work with and my first choice for a group looking for something different”.
My big takeaway? Lasting impressions!
No matter what we have sent this producer, what she has read about us, who she has spoken with about us – it came down to that night in Chicago when we killed with a room full of bankers and we were easy to work with.
My message here is to make your show matter. Do your research, customize the heck out of it, speak their language, be more than they expect – and it’ll pay off in spades.
After over 20-years of doing this I can sincerely say that the biggest hassle in this business is client acquisition. Once I have one I do everything I can do make them happy, and I want you to do the same.
Will you? Please!?!?
I like this video a lot… Just watched it a 2nd time and it’s got me thinking. Anything in it for you?
Warning, it’s Bob Parsons of GoDaddy.com and he’s a bit edgy…
I sent this video to you last week but I want it here on the site. I believe these simple tips can reprogram the way you look at marketing your act. And that’s important because the more natural it is, the better it will work
Have seen Les Brown around the speaking gigs for years and he’s a marvel. In this 90-second clip he proposes a wonderful idea for a Monday morning.
I’m doing what he suggests and taping it right here in front of my desk… you too?
